Helping the brain grow and repair itself through short and gentle sensory experiences

Multi-Sensory Therapy

The Multi-Sensory Therapy is a way to enrich the sensory environment of a person that makes the brain want to grow and repair itself in the process.

Note that most of the sections are self-contained, however, we did write each section assuming you will be familar with the material covered in the previous sections.

Each page below outlines one aspect of Multisensory Therapy. When I wrote them I tried to strike a balance between being concise and giving you enough detail to paint a clear picture for you. While you read these pages, if you have any comment or questions, use the comment form provided. I read all comments left on this web site personally.

Testimonial Compilation Video

A video I made for our media kit in 1999 for our first multisensory therapy symposium, with guest speakers including Prof. Michael Leon, Prof. Jon Horvitz, Prof. Michael Meaney, on whose work this therapy is based.

Typical Results

On average, 1 in 6 families who contact us see their dream come true of a normal life with their loved one.

7 Keys to success: Environment

A stress and interference free enviroment is to the mending brain what the cast is to the fractured leg or what the band-aid is to the paper cut.

7 Keys to Success: Understanding

As you understand more and more about the principles of brain plasticity, the more your lifestyle will mold itself around creating an environment conducive to healthy brain development.

7 Keys to Success: Routines

Twice a day for about ten minutes each time you will be doing brain games with your loved one. Make it a warm and fuzzy experience both times, every day.

7 Keys to Success: Support

A wise man told me that if I wanted to do something well, I should ask someone who has done it before. If you believe you can do it all on your own, and since every protocol we “prescribe” is illustrated with pictures and videos, you may select the Level 1 only option as offered [...]

7 Keys to Success: Control

Custom-tailored program vs. generic broad program. Both will work. albeit at different speeds and with different limits on recovery potential. As your loved one gets better, his or her personality will come through in a purer form, less impeded by the disabilities that used to plague his or her brain. His or her personality will [...]

7 Keys to Success: Equipment

In most cases, what you have at home will do. Sometimes we will need to make sure you understand what a game requires to make sure its effects are not diluted.

Repair weak brain zones by growing healthy ones

We know how the brain responds to short pleasurable experiences when it is healthy. All the close neighbors will benefit from the growth of brand new cells in that healthy area of the brain, including the “broken” ones we are really interested in.

7 Keys to Success: Hope

As you embark in this new project of brain repair, start thinking more about the real person hidden behind the debilitating challenges that overpower his or her brain right now. Start thinking about the situation as being temporary, with an end in sight. Blog this! Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook Share [...]
